SPEAKING LANGUAGE: SPANISH

You need to listen to your partner’s questions and answer them. Try to avoid short answers and do not be afraid to try new verbs and constructions. If you cannot understand something just ask your partner to speak slower (¿Por favor, podrías hablar más despacio?) or to repeat the question (¿Por favor, podrías repetir la pregunta?).

TASK 1

Listen to your partner’s question

And then say your name.

Remember to build a long sentence: E.g. My name is Patricia

TASK 2

Listen to the question

And say your age.

Make a full sentence and remember that in Spanish the verb “to have – tener” is used instead of the verb “to be – ser”.

TASK 3

Listen to the question about your school

Answer which school you go to.

Try to expand your answer mentioning where your school is and whether it is new or old / big or small…

TASK 4

Listen to the question

And say whether you do sports at your school.

Try to expand your answer explaining what sports you do and how often you practise them.

TASK 5

Listen to the question

Then say whether you like to read.

If you do like reading, try to expand your answer saying how much and when you read.
If you do not read or do not like reading, explain why.

TASK 6

Listen to the question

Then say whether you like music.

Try to expand your answer mentioning which genre of music you prefer and who your favourite singer / band is.
If you do not like music, explain why.

TASK 7

Listen to your partner’s question

Then say whether you have ever been to a concert.

If you have, give some examples of concerts you have been to.
If you have not, explain if you would like to go and why.

TASK 8

Listen to your partner’s question

Then say whether you play any musical instruments.

To play an instrument – Tocar un instrumento
If you play an instrument you can expand your answer by saying for how long you have been playing it.
If you do not play an instrument say whether you have ever tried or if you would like to try it.

TASK 9

Listen to your partner’s question about your family

And say whether you have siblings.

If yes, talk about your siblings mentioning names and ages.
If not, say that you are an only child (hija/o unica/o)

TASK 10

Listen to a question about your pets

And say whether you have pets.

If yes, mention which pet(s) you have and say their name(s).
If not, explain whether you would like to have a pet and which one.

TASK 11

Listen to a question about your friends

Then say the names of your best friends.

TASK 12

Listen to a second question about your friends

Then describe your friend or friends.

You can either describe how they look like or their personality (or both!).

 
 

SPEAKING LANGUAGE: ENGLISH

Now your partner will introduce herself / himself in English. You will need to listen carefully and then ask her/him some questions in English.

Listen to your partner’s presentation. He/She will be talking now in English.
TASK 14
Now you need to ask your partner some questions in English about her/his hobbies.

These are some ideas:
Sports: Does your partner like sports? Which ones? Where? How often?
Music: What genres does your partner like? What are their favourite bands/singers? What concerts have they gone to? Do they sing? Do they play any instruments?
Reading: Does your partner like reading? What book are they currently reading? What are their favourite books? When do they read/ do they have enough time? Have they read any books in English/ would they like to read books in English?

TASK 15
Now ask some questions about her/his family.

Some ideas are:
Does your partner have siblings? How many? How old are they? How do they get along? What activities do they do as a family?

And now ask a few questions about his/her school.

Some ideas are:
Where is their school? What is it like (new? old? big? small?) How many students in the school? How big is your partner’s class? How many classes in a year group? What are the school’s facilities like?
