GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER

Now your partner will introduce herself / himself in English. You will need to listen carefully and then ask her/him some questions in English.

TASK 1 – YOUR PARTNER STARTS
Listen to your partner’s presentation.
TASK 2

Now you need to ask your partner some questions in English about her/his hobbies. Start by asking:

What do you like to do in your free time?

Then expand the conversation asking a few specific questions. These are some ideas:

Sports: Do you like sports? Which ones? Where and how often do you practice them?
Music: What genres do you like? What are your favourite bands/singers? What concerts have you been to? Do you sing? Do you play any instruments?
Reading: Do you like reading? What book are you currently reading? What are your favourite books? When do you read/ do you have enough time? Have you read any books in English/ would you like to read books in English?

TASK 3

Now ask your partner about her/his family. Start with:

What is your family like?

Then ask some additional questions such as:
Do you get along with your siblings? Are your parents strict? What activities do you do as a family?

TASK 4

And now ask your partner about her/his school. Start with:

What is your school like?

Then keep the conversation going with more specific questions such as:

Where is your school? What is it like (new? old? big? small?) How many students are there in your school? How big is your class? How many classes are there in a year group? What are your school’s facilities like?

TASK 5

Ask your partner:

Could you describe your school day?

At what time do you start and finish? How many lessons you have each day? Which are your favourite subjects?

TASK 6

Ask your partner:

Which extracurricular activities are you doing (or planning to do) this term?

TASK 7
If you still have time, you could ask your partner some questions about her/his friends.

Some ideas are:
Who are your best friends? What are they like?
What do you do together in your free time? What do you have in common with them?
What were your primary school friends like?

Well done, you have now finished your conversation! Confirm the time of your next session before saying bye to your partner and hanging up. And do not forget to mark the session as complete 😊. ¡Hasta la semana que viene!
